THE RIGHT WAY TO APPLY ESSENTIAL OILS TO THE SKIN

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST WAYS TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS

Essential oils are becoming increasingly popular for their healing and relaxing properties. If you know how to use them properly, essential oils can almost become your best friend. Using essential oils accurately opens up possibilities for all their benefits to physical and mental health.

One of the most common ways of using essential oils is in combination with diffusers, which represent a simple and effective way of using essential oils for aromatherapy. However, you can also apply essential oils directly to the skin, and there are several ways to do this.

Experts point out that if you use essential oils topically, you should dilute them with the base oil (such as coconut or jojoba oil) before using them on the skin to ensure that it does not irritate.

What do we mean by the topical use of essential oil? When you use an essential oil topically, you apply it directly to the skin. As we mentioned earlier, it is recommended to use essential oil in combination with carrier oil - such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, and sweet almond oil to avoid skin irritation.

There are several areas of the body where essential oils can be applied. When applying, it is vital to ensure you use all the benefits of the oil to your advantage and not just moisturize the skin. So, what areas of the body are we talking about?

THE INSIDE OF THE HAND, WRIST OR THIGH

The skin inside the hands, wrists and inner thighs are susceptible and noticeably thinner than other body parts. This thin layer makes them excellent areas for applying essential oils. When it comes to the wrists, the combination of delicate skin and the radial artery (located along the inside of the wrist) allows essential oils to penetrate the skin more quickly and be distributed throughout the body. In this way, their efficiency increases.

Applying essential oils along specific pulse points will help you feel essential oils' benefits more efficiently. Also, this area is recommended for any pain or inflammation in your hands and feet. For example, you can use certain essential oils after a hard workout or a long day at work. Lavender oil is perfect because it has a calming effect on the body. It can also help with muscle stiffness and inflammation.

AREA BEHIND THE EARS

Just like the skin on the wrists, the skin behind the ears is fragile or the lightest on the entire body. This also makes it an excellent area for topically applying essential oils. There is also a so-called mastoid pressure point in the area behind the ear, which is thought to help relieve pain and inflammation.

The local application of essential oil behind the ears effectively alleviates headaches. At the same time, it is important to remember that you must dilute the essential oils with one of the previously mentioned base oils before use. Also, applying the necessary oil to the area behind the ears is good because there is no opening nearby that could cause the oil to be swallowed or cause pain or burning.

In addition to pain relief, essential oils are used in the area behind the ears as a substitute for perfumes. They are natural, and people like to apply them because they want to know what products they are applying to the body. Another advantage of using essential oils as an alternative to perfume is the financial one since the price of essential oils is significantly lower than perfumes bought in drugstores and perfumeries.

APPLICATION OF ESSENTIAL OILS TO THE FEET

You may not have known, but you can also apply essential oils to your feet. You can rub them directly on the skin (in combination with a base oil) or soak your feet in a solution or water where you have poured a few drops of essential oils.

In addition to comfort after a hard day, you can reduce pain and tension by massaging essential oils on your feet. Sore feet are a problem that many people suffer from, and the solution to reduce the pain is so simple and effective. You can use any essential oil that helps to relax and relieve inflammation and painful areas.

APPLICATION OF ESSENTIAL OILS TO THE CHEST

Experts point out that the local application of essential oils to the chest area is the most effective for colds. Eucalyptus essential oil is often applied to the chest, which has a cooling and refreshing effect that helps clear the airways and enables you to breathe more easily.

However, suppose you are not "crazy" about the smell of menthol. In that case, you can also use lavender essential oil, which promotes relaxation and healing and can help you feel more comfortable in your body, even when that same body is "fighting" against you.

If you're fighting the cold, apply a few drops of eucalyptus, lavender or peppermint essential oil to your chest when you are suffering from problems such as breathing problems and to help with coughs or blocked airways. As in the previous examples, apply the essential oil of your choice with a base oil.

TEMPLES

Topical application of essential oil to the temples is often used when suffering from headaches or migraines. You've probably caught yourself rubbing your temples with your fingers when you've had a headache because the temples are a key pressure point. Massaging that area can often reduce the pain that comes with a headache.

It is recommended to apply essential oils such as lavender, lemon or mint to the temples, which have a calming effect on the body. As for using the oil itself, after you have properly diluted it with the base oil, you can apply it to your temples with your fingers, a cotton ball or a roller to make it easier to bear and ultimately reduce a headache or migraine.

APPLICATION OF ESSENTIAL OILS ON THE BACK

Although this is not discussed often, essential oils can also be applied to the back area. Just think, rubbing essential oils into this body area can significantly reduce muscle tension, inflammations and pain.

For the back area, recommended essential oils are eucalyptus, which creates a pleasant cooling effect, and lavender essential oil, which calms and helps with relaxation. Apply the essential oil to your palms and rub them several times before placing them on your back and giving yourself a more-than-deserved massage.

ESSENTIAL OILS AND THEIR MEDICINAL PROPERTIES

Although you can use many essential oils on their own and do not have to combine them with another essential oil, this is not prohibited. On the contrary, it is considered that some combinations of essential oils are instrumental and practical, and the benefits are as follows:

  • Lavender essential oilbalances, calms the mind and body and improves mood. Also, it is one of the few essential oils that can be applied to undiluted skin.
  • Eucalyptus essential oil - helps to clear the airways, helps to cough up accumulated mucus and helps with painful areas of the body by cooling and refreshing them painful area

  • Combination of lavender and peppermint essential oil – for easier breathing, relief of pain, itchy skin, reduction of stress and general tension, headache and relief of sunburn.
  • Eucalyptus and lavender essential oil combination - helps clear the sinuses, helps with breathing problems and generally has a positive effect on the body for the issues caused by colds.

PAY ATTENTION TO THIS WHEN APPLYING ESSENTIAL OILS TOPICALLY

While areas with thin skin, especially those above the pulse points, are great for the topical application of essential oils, there are certain areas of the body that you should avoid. For example, the skin under the eyes is relatively thin. Still, it is not recommended to apply any essential oil. This is because the area is sensitive, and a solid essential oil could cause a reaction.

According to the recommendation, one should avoid putting essential oils near the nose, mouth or any area where the oil could enter the body. Likewise, if you apply essential oils to your fingers, it is recommended that you wash your hands after use. Although essential oils can be good for you, be careful not to take essential oils orally. That is why it's important to thoroughly wash your hands so that you do not introduce the essential oil into the body while eating or, for example, rubbing your eyes.
